§ 2137. Purchase of dogs or cats by research facilities prohibited except from authorized operators of auction sales and licensed dealers or exhibitors

   Sec. 7. It shall be unlawful for any research facility to purchase any Purchase restrictions. dog or cat from any person except a person holding a valid license as a dealer issued by the Secretary pursuant to this Act unless such person is exempted from obtaining such license under section 3 of this Act.

   Sec. 8. Section 7 of such Act is amended— (1) by inserting between the words “except” and “a person” the words “an operator of an auction sale subject to section 12 of this Act or”; and (2) by inserting between the words “as a dealer” and “issued” the words “or exhibitor”.
